Welcome to Butterflies Class
Butterflies Class (Year 5 and Year 6) is taught by Miss Bellwood. The class is supported by Mrs Strange.
The Butterflies classroom is where you'll find the oldest children in the school. Lots of fun and exciting learning goes on in our class, with a real emphasis on independence and responsibility. Every year we go on a residential trip, and in the summer term we get to star in the school production. The Year 6 children in particular have lots of special responsibilities in the school: looking after their Foundation Stage buddies, as well as being chaplains and sports leaders.
In the summer term, the Year 6 children take their SATs tests, before they begin their transition to secondary school.
Parents, log in to Class Dojo for all our latest class news and updates, including a roundup of our news each Friday. If you are looking for home learning resources, please go to the Butterflies home learning page of our website.
Because we have 2 year groups in each class, we use a 2-year rolling programme of study which means that, over the course of their two years in Butterflies Class, children will cover all areas of the Year 5 and Year 6 National Curriculum. Here is a copy of our 2-year rolling plan, which has recently been redeveloped in order to make better links between subjects and ensure a broad and balanced curriculum. There are still some areas being worked on, so this document is subject to change.
Here is our timetable for the academic year 2022-23: Butterflies Class Timetable. PE lessons take place on Mondays and Fridays each week.
