Swaffham Prior Primary School - Ofsted Inspection Report 29 & 30 November 2022

  Dear Parents and Carers

Please find attached, our Ofsted report following our recent Section 5 inspection on Tuesday and Wednesday, 29th and 30th November 2022. I am very happy to inform you that the inspector, Mrs Karen Stanton, judged Swaffham Prior CE Primary School to be ‘Good’ in all areas. The inspection was rigorous and thorough, and so we are very happy with the resulting report. We believe the report to be a fair reflection of our school; it is positive about all aspects of school life.

Mrs Stanton reported that, ‘Pupils and staff are proud to be part of this warm and caring school community.’ She went on to say that, ‘The school is a happy and safe place. Pupils conduct themselves well and show positive attitudes towards all aspects of school. Pupils are polite, respectful and understand what is expected at all times.’

Mrs Stanton also reported that, ‘Pupils benefit from leaders’ high expectations and talk enthusiastically about their learning. Pupils are well supported by adults who help them achieve their best.’ And ‘The school curriculum is well planned.’ and, ‘Leaders have created a calm environment where pupils can learn. Pupils are attentive in lessons and focus on their work. They cooperate and support each other.’

I am particularly pleased that Ofsted recognised the journey of improvements made at the school over the last few years and I would like to thank the parents who have supported the school during this time. We will continue to work on improving our provision in-line with our values and vision to help children flourish academically, socially and emotionally and will address, as we already are, the two areas for improvement identified in the report:
1. ensure that in foundation subjects, systems are in place to enable staff to check how well pupils are learning.
2. ensure that information on pupils’ individual support plans precisely matches what pupils’ need to learn next and that the work set and support given enables them to make progress.
I am so proud to be the head teacher of Swaffham Prior Primary School with such respectful, enthusiastic children, supportive parents, hardworking, committed staff, a strong governing body and a supportive academy trust. It is a privilege and an honour to be a part of this wonderful school community. Thank you again for all of your support in all that we do here at Swaffham Prior Primary School!

Yours sincerely
Helen Bartley
